As the new CASE term began, CADA conducted a workshop on October 2nd, through a partnership with the Moseulpo Childcare Center. The Moseulpo Childcare Center provides after-school care, educational programs, and recreational activities for children in the local community.
With over 30 participants, the workshop was a huge success. The topic of the workshop conducted was the cultures of Africa. As an introduction, participants completed puzzles created from images of three countries in Africa, being challenged to guess where those places are using spatial clues. During the presentations, we discussed the diverse countries in the continent, along with the traditions of each region. In smaller groups, participants saw videos of interviews with teachers from different parts of Africa. Later on, participants engaged in quizzes and answered questions on other traditions; as a wrap-up activity, they colored traditional patterns from the five regions of Africa, using bright colors.

The workshop at Moseulpo Childcare Center introduced children to various parts of African culture. As African culture is quite unfamiliar to most people in Korea, students showed concentration and interest in the topic. We were thankful and proud of all of the students who actively participated in our workshop. In the future, we are looking forward to conducting more workshops that are engaging and meaningful.
